Snowboarding
I started snowboarding when I was sixteen on my local dry slope, and ever since I have been hooked. I've been to France, Austria and Italy on my own, with friends and on group trips. Whilst in my second year at University I joined the Ski and Snowboard Club, and during my MSc I have been in the Committee of the club. This year in particular has been one of the best years for the club, with my personal achievements being an increase in Communication through the club's first website - www.pompeysnow.co.uk - and through regular e-mail messages, leading to a massive total of 240 Portsmouth students visiting the French Alps this winter. The other Committee members consulted with me on the design last summer, which I then developed on the Joomla! CMS including several customised applications (like an easy registration system and the 'Snowfile' profile feature). I have also written several reviews and news items for the student newspaper and taken many photographs for the club.
Rock Music
Throughout childhood I learned the keyboard, and when I was seventeen I joined a ska/punk band before I went to University as something to at the weekends. Since moving I haven't played, but I have been involved in the Rock music society during my studies. In the final year of my BSc I was in the society's Committee where I was, like with the Ski and Snowboard Club, involved in setting up their website and improving communication. However I also organised a Boat Party in conjunction with our Southampton University counterparts, where we sold all but 80 of the 300 tickets available.
